Today's youth is not only modern but also fashion forward. Sad to say on the other hand, the middle aged generation comes with a mixed wardrobe containing the most inappropriate clothes, a person could have. And this is exactly what this article is about; what to wear when going into a casino.
Many casinos all over the world are famous for their glitz and glamour, but ironically the glitz and glamour is not really reflected in some of the casino guests. In Las Vegas especially the common casino visitor can be observed wearing shorts, a Hawaii style polo, and sandals or shoes. Top that look off with a baseball cap and this casino visitor is good to go; into the hands of the fashion police.
The look of the typical American casino visitor, as described above, would shock European casino visitors. Many parts of Europe, like Germany, impose a strict dress code in their casinos. And when we say strict, we mean strict. There is no chance upon entering, if you so follow this code religiously. The code prescribes polo shirt and jacket with tie for men and cocktail dress for women. No jeans, sandals, shorts, and short sleeves allowed for men. Sometimes the casinos are not requiring a tie and that is what they call "casual" wear.
Since Europe has a strict dress code in the casinos, people actually try harder to dress to impress. A dress code is much better for every casino visitor because it increases the standard of the whole establishment and of the casino visitor as a whole. Dressing to impress also gives the impression of being a high roller, which also means that you will be respected easier when you are properly dressed than when you look like a tourist.
An advantage for female casino visitors who are wearing cocktail dresses or gowns is that the dress here can also be associated with status. If you are female and single, a dress can be associated with a woman being available and looking for men. In casino history, women only had the ability to distract a man whenever she wore a dress that reveals her cleavage and thus other players would win the game and not the victim.
The power of a well dressed man or woman are immense especially in the casino world. Dress codes should be implemented in every casino to keep the society standards up and to give a good reason for women to dress to impress.
